Welcome to the website of the Memphis Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). As the second largest branch of the NAACP, the Memphis Branch is honored to uphold the traditions and responsibilities of the nation’s oldest civil rights organization. In 2009, the NAACP celebrated 100 years of ensuring the political, educational, social and economic equality for all persons. The Memphis Branch of NAACP is committed to sustaining this mission for an additional 100 years. We will continue to partner with our local student chapters and engage in external outreach in an effort to enhance services to our social justice mission as we support our community. We will continue to support national and local initiatives to end racial and ethnic disparities. Our commitment to this goal will continue to open doors for the leaders of tomorrow. The Memphis Branch of the NAACP requests your active participation and support as we meet the objectives set before us. We have been instrumental in seeking the removal of racial discrimination through democratic processes. Your membership and active participation is a vital component of being more and doing more for our community. As we begin this new century, I am sure that with your support and commitment we can make our community, city and region an even better place to live for all who call Memphis and Shelby County home.
